Nurture With Nature

Today I awoke with burning quads. As I lay in my bed and thought of my bike ride yesterday. I rode from Ventura to Ojai on the bike path.

What a marvelous journey it was. I was greeted with divine beauty at every glance. My senses alive, and my spirits quickly lifted as I rode on feeling gratitude for these gifts and many other blessings I am bestowed with.

The glorious flowers, the song of birds singing as I rolled along being greeted my cheerful yellows of spicy mustard flowers, pops of baby white and yellow daiseys, passionate reds of alstroemerias ( tulip shaped flowers) green abundant trees, shrubs and vines, majestic Topas in the distance through the hazy cool day. Smelling all the smells, feeling all the feels and riding through it all. Just what the doctor ordered. Nature, exercise, fresh air. Fresh white sage, anise plant, and this beautiful smell of unknown yellow flowers wafting their soft pastel corn like scent , reminding me of my favorite flower, the Matilija poppy. Nature surrounds and abounds.

I ride on immersed in all of her glory as I now hear the cleansing, purifying waters coming down from the Topa Topas and beyond. Bearing witness to crystal waters streaming through our usually dry river bottoms. The water is blueish, greenish from the hue of the bright green moss growing in them. So much beauty and not one photo taken. I savored the moments, memories for me for lifetimes.

I only wonder why after living I’m Ojai for 11 years, why did I just now take this journey? Well whatever the reason, I suppose today was the day.

I rode on, stopped in to see my friend Pablo in Mira Monte, then to downtown, to Boku foods for adaptive mushroom latte and I ate my leftovers from day prior barbecue with friends. Alana’s grilled corn and magical Shish kebobs!!! Yum. All my senses feel inspired and I am grateful.

I rode home- while riding I remembered that at start of this journey, I was asking a city worker if he knew where the start of the bike trail was and he told me how to get there. He also strongly cautioned me against it. I know the element thar can lurk there, but I was determined. I’m aware and awake, and o am protected. If I had succumbed to fear, I would have never embarked on our one year nomad journey. Two women and a journey in their 1995, 27 foot Stealthy Healthy Beast.

Imagine if I had succumbed to fear, all the living I would miss out on!
